Do Men Burn More Fat Than Women?
In the male body, the testosterone hormone determines the size of bones, deepens the voice and causes hair growth. It also regulates the size of the muscle mass, thus regulating the metabolism rate. The more muscle mass a person has, the faster the person burns calories. This fact is one of the biggest differences between male and female and between overweight people and those who are fit.
Research has found that women gain weight faster than men and that women have more diffculties shedding excess pounds through exercise. Regretfuly, women have the misfortune of being stuck with the worst part of the weight loss process and they would have to work twice as hard as men to stay in good shape. Staying in shape is already no easy task for men… can you can imagine how bad the ladies have it?
The modern obsession for ladies is to have a waffle thin body. Multiple attempts to shed those unwanted excess pounds conditions the body to hang on to the existing fat. Weight loss therefore gets more difficult as the years pass. This led to ladies becoming more desperate and eagar to try half-baked weight loss ideas that should simply be avoided. This leads to dieting that makes the person thinner, but not healthier.
The BBC published a study that showed that 62 obese women who exercised at least 4 hours weekly and learnt how to cook nutricious and healthier meals felt a great improvement in their self-image. Although they lost only 9 pounds over a 3 months period, but their cholesterol and blood pressure improved for the better. That being said, women should perhaps start to shift away from achieving a specific weight to just staying healthy and feeling good regardless of weight. Who knows? This maybe the future of the weight loss industry: to help people feel better about themselves instead of harming their bodies while chasing a dream.
